#RevolutionNow: Police take over Kwara Stadium
Athletes who had arrived at the stadium for training were turned back by the Police.
Many of the athletes were stranded in and around the three gates leading to the stadium complex were barricaded by the officers and men of the Nigeria Police.
Some of the athletes wondered why sportsmen would be denied access to facilities for their trainings and hope that the policemen would disperse so soon.
Some believe that security agents were acting on intelligence following the declaration of revolution rally purportedly organised by the presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore in the 2019 general elections.
In his reaction, the Kwara Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, said officers and men of the Command were drafted to the Stadium to thwart the planned protest that could truncate existing peace in the state.
