Kwara Threatens to Blacklist Contractors
The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has warned contractors handling government projects in the state to execute such projects in good time and to specification or risk sanctions.
According to a statement by Abdulwahab Oba, Chief press secretary to the Kwara state governor, he gave the directive at the weekend when he paid an unscheduled visit to the State General Hospital, Share, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area that is under comprehensive renovation.
Governor Ahmed, visibly enraged with slow pace of work, said his administration would not allow shoddy execution of projects and waste of the State's scarce resources. He emphasized that in pursuit of the values of Shared Prosperity Programme of his administration and financial probity all projects must be executed to project standards as defaulting contractors would be blacklisted.
He expressed displeasure that the pace of work on the renovation of Share General Hospital was slow and not commensurate with the funds released to the contractor.
The governor noted that the contractor handling the renovation of Ilorin General Hospital had achieved impressive progress despite the fact that the two contractors received funds at same time. He therefore charged the contractor handling the renovation of share General Hospital "to be on top of the job because we are benchmarking all other general hospitals in the state against the Ilorin general hospital."
