APC delighted with President Buhari's declaration to re contest election -BOLAJI Abdullahi

A member of the National Executive Council (NEC) and spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mallam BOLAJI Abdullahi says the party is delighted that President Muhammadu Buhari has finally announced his intention to re contest for the presidency of the country for another term.

Mallam Abdullahi who stated the party's position during an interview with newsmen said the entire members of the party were so exited with the presidents declaration because it has given the party some kind of direction more so that the nation's 2019 general elections us around the corner.

According to him , the party was initially not too clear about the direction the president wanted the party to go but with this development , the party has seen a clear signal for the way forward stressing that the presidents declaration received a spontaneous reaction from the NEC members.

The APC spokesman disclosed that it is normal for other people to want to contest for the position of the president but that for now , President BUHARI is the only aspirant that has signified his intention for the number one position but added that the party's constitution allows other members to also express similar interest while the party would finally take a decision.

Mallam Abdullahi said that it would be prejudicial to other party members to describe President Buhari as the best presidential candidate for now but disclosed that the work that the president has started is so fundamental to the development of the country that he should be given the opportunity to consolidate on it.

According to him , four years can not enough to actualize what a government plans to achieve and that it is in the interest of Nigerians to allow the work that he started to continue explaining that the BUHARI administration has brought the commitment to fight corruption .

In a related development , a member of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Labour Congress , Comrade ISSA Aremu said President BUHARI has the right under the Nigerian constitution to seek reelection in office for a second term .

Comrade Aremu disclosed that the same constitution allows all other eligible contestants to exercise their rights to vote and be voted for.

The NLC boss stated that the controversy over why the president is contesting or not is necessary adding that what is clear is that Labour pray will also exercise its constitutional rights to vote based on critic assessment of all the political office holders with respect to decent work, decent pay, employment , cost of living , security, a prosperous nation , fair, just and united Nigeria.
