Belgore Lessons: Use of Public School Infrastructure Must be Approved - Govt
Kwara State government has advised all interested members of the public that intend to make use of infrastructure at public schools across the 16 local government areas of the state during the long holiday to take approval from the government.
In a statement issued in Ilorin on Thursday, the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Saka Onimago, said the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Dele Belgore (SAN), did not get permission to use public schools from the government before embarking on extra-mural classes for students.
Onimago was apparently reacting to the complaint raised by Belgore that public schools were not made available to him for use.
The commissioner, who said that no application was submitted to the ministry as regard the usage of the school premises by Mr Belgore, added that "the normal procedure for any person or organisation that intends to use the school premises for any purpose be it social, cultural, education, among others, is to seek the permission of the Ministry of Education through the principals of such schools in Kwara State."
The statement, which was signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Lamidi Alabi, said the permission from the appropriate authorities would go a long way in safeguarding and protecting the infrastructural facilities of such schools.
