Senior Lawyer Lauds Recall of Supreme Court Judges

Date: 2017-06-07

Former Chairman, Judiciary Committee of Nigeria Bar Association,(NBA) Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN) Tuesday lauded the leadership zeal of the National Judicial Council (NJC) over the recent reinstatement of the eight Supreme Court judges.

He also blamed the federal government for its decision to prosecute the judges now because they were reinstated by the NJC, saying that Nigerians are no fools. Ali speaking in an interview with journalists in Ilorin, Kwara state capital said the decision of the NJC was justified because" you can't continue to keep people in suspense."

Ali also pointed out that it is a waste for Nigeria as a nation when you continue to keep people of that calibre in perpetual suspense and deny them the opportunity to discharge their responsibilities to the nation.

His words, "For me, the reinstatement of the supreme court judges by the NJC is a correct decision to take because you can't continue to keep people in suspense" "People must know their status in law, if after six months people don't know their status, then the right decision must be taken"

"Its also a waste of resources for the country, if you continue to keep the supreme court judges in suspense without allowing them to perform their responsibilities to the nation" On his take now that the federal government has decided to prosecute them he said, "lets wait and see, for all I know, Nigerians are not fools"
