The Emir of Tsonga in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, Doctor Haliru Ndanusa Yahyah has warned against political digital assassination in the next general elections.

Doctor Haliru Yahyah, gave the warning in his palace while fielding questions from Radio Kwara Political Correspondent.

The Emir, said the spread of false news stories on social media portends serious danger to the democratic process of the country, pointing out that anybody is at the liberty to write any story on the social media.

Doctor Haliru Yahyah explained that the country is currently battling with the syndrome of fake news, which had caused damage to the unity of the country and the political system.

The Traditional Ruler said untrue stories are infiltrating the society without the gatekeepers to filter and scrutinize them before public consumption.

Doctor Haliru Yahyah noted that the youth that does not know the pain of war are using social media to cause it.

According to him, it is very dangerous to be using social media negatively, stressing the need for government to be wary of the avenue which he said portends serious danger to the country.

Doctor Haliru Yahyah also charged government to create a platform on the control of the cyber space, as it was done in the United States of America and Germany.
