The Kwara North Senatorial Chairman, Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa has lauded the courage of Alhaji Abubakar Ndakene and others who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

While speaking with Pilot Politics, Oniwa stressed that the defection of the members of other political parties in the state to the APC symbolises the fact that the party stands out.

He stressed further that those that defected saw light in the party adding that Ndakene has taken a bold step by denouncing the PDP to join APC.

"Defection is not only happening in Kwara, but all over the state, reason for their defection is simply because they've seen light in the party, no party can be transparent as APC, how government money and activities are managed is always in the domain of the public, and this is what people want" he said.

According to him, he is aware that some members of the PDP have also defected to APC in Asa local government adding that the region is known for strong politicking.

He said after the defection of the former PDP chieftain in the region, many others have signified interest to join the APC.

He noted that the defection coming on the heels of forthcoming local government elections in the state and that of general election in 2019 was a good development.

"People want to participate in government, not just going to the polling unit to vote during election, local government election is fast approaching and 2019 general elections, the fact remains, people want to have representation in government," he added.He said Kwara State was fast become a one party state where things are been run in a family-like manner.
