Kwara To Review Discriminatory School Fees

Date: 2017-01-20

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfattah Ahmed pledged Thursday to review the discriminatory fee charged non-indigenes of the state by state-owned educational institutions.

Ahmed made the pledge while addressing a breakfast meeting of High Net Individuals (HNI) and corporate organisations on improved tax system in the state.

Some of the participants at the meeting had lamented that while they pay their tax as residents of the state, their children are made to pay higher fees in schools because they are not indigenes.

He said: "I agree with you on the marginalisation about fees payment and sympathise with you. The truth is that Nigeria must do away with the concept of state of origin and adopt the concept of state of residence. And God willing, I will review the issue here"
