Tragedy occurred at Asa Dam area of Ilorin, Kwara State on Friday when a 14- year-old student of Sheik Abdulkadir Secondary School, Abdulsamad Adebimpe allegedly committed suicide.

The deceased teenager, it was learnt, took his life with a rope he hung in his room at the family residence.

A source in the deceased neigbourhood told NATIONAL PILOT reporter that the incident happened minutes after he returned from school at about 4:30pm.

"He is a very quiet boy. When he got back from school on the fateful day, he sat in front of his parents' house for few minutes and went back inside.

"Much later his father came out to look for him and when he couldn't be found he checked his room and discovered that it was locked from inside. The father peeped through the window and was shocked to see the dangling lifeless body of his son.

"The door was broken but it was too late as the boy had given up the ghost," the source added. The case was said to have been reported at the "B" divisional Police Station, of Surulere.

However, efforts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),DSP Okasanmi Ajayi, to confirm the incident proved abortive as calls to his mobille phone did not go through and text messages sent not acknowledged as at the time of filing this report.
