The Kwara Government on Sunday inaugurated a joint Youth Security Committee for the communal crisis between Share and Tsaragi of Ifelodun and Edu local councils, respectively.

Alhaji Haruna Muhammed, the state's Commissioner for Local Governments, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, while inaugurating the committee in Ilorin, said the development was to help resolve the incessant clashes between the two communities.

The commissioner charged the youth to see themselves as agents of change for the overall peace and development of their respective communities.

He stated that the inauguration was significant as youth were seen as agents of change that could help to solve the communal crisis.

The Commissioner also advised the Youths to rub minds to resolve the lingering crisis in the two communities with the motive of bringing it to an end.

In their remarks, The Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen of Ifelodun and Edu Local Governments enjoined the youths to come up with resolutions that would bring peaceful co-existence among the two communities.

They commended Gov Abdulfatah Ahmed for putting necessary machinery in motion to put an end to the age-long crisis.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the cross-section of youth from the communities, who attended the inaguration described the present situation as unfortunate. But they pledged to ensure that things would return to normal with the setting up of the committee.
