Opposition Parties'll Remove PDP In 2015 - Lai Mohammed

Date: 2012-07-28

A new platform being planned by the Action Congress of Nigeria, (ACN), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and other opposition parties will sweep the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) out of office in 2015, the national Publicity Secretary of ACN, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said.

Mohammed, who spoke with newsmen in his Oro country home in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State yesterday, expressed the confidence that a new platform that would emerge from the talks between the opposition parties would ultimately wrest power from PDP in the next general elections.

He told newsmen shortly before the commencement of the 6th Lai Mahammed Annual Ramadan lecture in the ancient town that Nigerians were fed up with the PDP-led government in the country, saying all other political parties in the country were looking for a ‘Noah's ark to rescue them.

He added, "Actually, what is happening is not just talk between CPC and ACN; no political party is satisfied with this government.  Even the PDP members are now looking for what I will call a Noah's Ark to rescue them. So make no mistake about it. It is going to happen and it will sweep PDP out of power.

"Forget all these stupid insinuations that we tried it 10 years ago it did not work. Why are they afraid if it won't work? I can assure you by God's will, it will work. We will resolve all our differences and that new platform will sweep PDP out of government."

The ACN's spokesman further posited that some unknown persons were thwarting attempts at ending the Boko Haram insurgency.

"There are fifth columnists within the government that would not want an end to Boko Haram insurgency, as they are feeding fat on the situation. Almost a trillion Naira was voted for security in 2011. This would translate to almost N2billion a day. Those who are managing these funds, some of them do not actually want an end to the menace. The economic situation does not help the situation either," he said.
