Fasting responsible for our 4-0 loss, says First Bank Coach

Date: 2016-06-14

Coach Luqman Osho of First Bank F.C. of Lagos has blamed his team's 4-0 loss on fasting by his players in their match against Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) F.C. in Ilorin on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ibrahim Abdullahi scored a brace with Doyin Olowosaiye and Luqman Abdulhameed scoring a goal each, to help ABS record its second win in the 2015/2016 Nigeria National League NNL season.

Osho told NAN in Ilorin on Monday that he had warned his players not to fast on Sunday but only to be told at half time that eight of the players were observing the Ramadan fast.

"I feel bad about the result because that was not us on Sunday. "We are a better side than the result we got but I was told at half time eight of my players were fasting. "We will go back and see what we will do about it, " Osho said. When asked if it was the same fasting that affected his team's performance against Crown F.C. of Ogbomoso, he gave no for an answer.

He, however, attributed the team's defeat to the way and manner the match officials had handled the match. "The match officials frustrated us; they did not fast against Crown, " he said. He, however, praised the players of ABS Ilorin F.C., describing the team as above average. (NAN)
