We Didn't Give Saraki Money For Ramadan - Kwara Govt

Date: 2016-06-05

It has come to our attention that Sahara Reporters has published a story claiming that the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki demanded and received N300m from Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed for the Ramadan.

We regard this as the latest episode in Sahara Reporters' serial campaign of falsehood against Dr. Bukola Saraki and the state he once governed. It is certainly inconceivable that a state government that received N800m in statutory allocation in May but requires N2.1b to monthly for salaries alone will indulge in such act.

Kwara State Government, like other governments across the country, is focused on overcoming current economic challenges, upholding the people's welfare and delivering pledged infrastructure. We, therefore, refuse to be distracted by Sahara Reporters' antics.

At this critical time in our national life, well-meaning Nigerians are preoccupied by vital issues of how Nigeria will be navigated out of the current crises.

We therefore urge Nigerians to focus on the more important tasks at hand.
