OPINION: Bukola Saraki's trial and Buhari's Pandora box. By Sulyman Kayode Maja

Pandora's box is an artefact in Greek mythology, taken from the myth of Pandora's creation in Hesiod's Works and Days. The "box" was actually a large jar given to Pandora which contained all the evils of the world. Pandora opened the jar and all the evils flew out, leaving only "Hope" inside once she had closed it again.

Today the phrase "to open Pandora's box" means to perform an action that may seem small or innocent, but that turns out to have severely detrimental and far-reaching negative consequences.

Form the clear narration above, one should sit carefully to analyse and decode the happening and actions of our dear president, the president should realise that the mandate given to him by Nigerians is a collective agitation of all citizen towards a dream to a better life. Many still sitting on the fence thinking this all charade is a fight about corruption but won't ask why many international news tabloids had put to questions the whole kangaroo agenda.

There are 3 dimensions to this whole anti corruption mantra of president Buhari a far as Saraki is concerned and I will be glad to outline as follows.

1. The revenge

It is as open secret for all that is old enough to know that President Buhari is not a good friend of late Olushola Saraki owing to the fact that the biggest scam in our history happened during when Late Olusola Saraki, was the Senate leader In the 2nd Republic Senate between 1979-1983 and a Senate committee member that indicted Buhari over the missing $2.8billion. (please enjoy the fact below)

Fact as at then had it that in 983, When the Senate Committee late Saraki chaired was investigating the stolen $2.8 Billion, from the Coffers Of NNPC Between 1977-1978, under Buhari's watch as NNPC Boss. Muhammadu Buhari was Indicted by the Nigerian Senate over the missing funds, as the Money was traced to his Bank accounts with British bank, Midland bank, now HSBC. Muhammdu Buhari and his Military gangs, staged the 1983 coup that ousted the Shehu Shagari-led government to cover up his indictment by Senate Committee and the Justice Ayo Irikefe panels that probed the missing 2.8 billion dollars oil money.

The late Sen Abubakar Olusola Saraki was thrown behind bars together with members of his committee and other Nigerian politicians by Maj Gen Buhari. Regrettably, the $2.8 Billion probe was swept under and the audit trail and source documents destroyed by Buhari's Military Government.

Buhari declared himself a saint with barrel of gun, as he is aware that no one will challenge him. 32 years gone, Nigerians are still asking where has the Missing $2.8 Billion gone? The current value of $2.8billion stolen in 1970s in a simple compound interest worth over $887.25Billion. This is bigger than the budget of all African countries in few years. (God bless the initial writer for he captured the narration truthfully and sincerely)

On this accord, we clearly can see the first dimension clearly.

2. The puppetry.

Many people are already having the opinion that president Buhari is being used as a puppet in the hands of some political gladiators who are hell bent on taking Nigeria as a political battle ground to settle their political scores and the president is keeping quite while agencies under him are being re chemistried and reconstructed to suit their needs and do their bidding and evidently enough we all can see how the EFCC in collaboration with the CCB are braking all the rules, laws and ethics of the judiciary all in a bid to stain the senate president regardless of the backlash it will have for the president, the party and Nigeria as a whole and this is where I get scared. If an agency under the president is being controlled by some sets of people whom where not voted into power to have such control then can we say the president is still in control of the nation as a whole? President Buhari needs to step up and speak up to free himself from the shackles of these people using him and his agencies against his happiness because they might eventually turn these agencies against him and that will spell doom for his legendary name as the name will reduce to nothing.

3. Playing along.

The present trial of the Senate President is nothing but a witch hunt, a political revenge and a mere persecution which can't sustain nor stand a fair trial is given but has gotten to a wearisome level when the president is perceived to be playing along with the lackadaisical game of witch hunting and score settling. I would wish to remind the president that his allegiance with Ilorin is blood bound or has he forgotten the immerse contribution and ties he has with our illustrious son of late memory Babatunde Idiagbon? Is this the coins he wants to pay us with in Ilorin with our loyalty and undying faith in him? Baba Buhari should remember that there is something called nemesis and injustice to one is injustice to all, the prolonged persecution will be nothing but a disappointment on all the die hard buharist who journeyed far and wide on the assumption that Baba is bringing succour and not war aimed at flexing muscles. No matter what the poison you consumed about Saraki, you should rethink and realise what these is all about and never should you forget that the loyalty of Saraki and the whole of Kwara is unaltered and un shaken.

On a final note, I wish to tell all lovers of Saraki to stay head up high because this persecution WILL NOT LAST because all leaders who has ever aspired high goes through persecution, Baba Awolowo, M.K.O, Obasanjo and many other leaders from around the world and believe in Allah because the storm his over.
