Kwara lawmakers commend FG over reconstruction of Ilorin- Jebba highway

Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly Ali Ahmad has commended the Federal Government for responding to the yearnings of the people of Kwara and Niger States in resuming work on the abandoned rehabilitation of Ilorin-Jebba highway.

The Speaker made the commendation on behalf of the Assembly, while considering a motion on the "Urgent need for rehabilitation of Tsaragi-Tsonga road junction sponsored by Ishiaku Aliyu Adams (Edu Constituency) and co- sponsored by Shuaibu Abdulkadi (Patigi Constituency).

Speaking during consideration of the motion, Ahmad explained that the level of on- going rehabilitation on the road proves President Muhammadu Buhari's responsiveness towards service delivery.

According to him, Kwarans are equally grateful to the Senate President Mr Bukola Saraki and the Minister of Power, Works and Housing Mr Raji Fashola for their commitment in ensuring that the deplorable highway was promptly rehabilitated.

Members had while commenting on the ongoing reconstruction of the highway, noted with delight that the menace of armed robbery attack on the highway had disappeared since work resumed on the route and urged the contractor handling the project to ensure prompt completion of the road.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has been urged to as a matter of urgency, rehabilitate the Tsaragi-Tsonga road junction before the advent of heavy rains.

This was contained in the resolutions of the House after considering the motion on the deplorable Tsaragi-Tsonga federal road junction.

The Speaker while reading the resolutions of the House said the road was also strategic to the socio-economic development of the State and further directed the State Ministry of Works and Transport to as a pallative measure, maintain the portion of the road to prevent it from further deterioration, pending its rehabilitation by FERMA.
