The Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has lauded the University of Ilorin on its numerous achievements as a foremost citadel of higher learning in Nigeria.

The Emir gave this commendation last Wednesday (April 30, 2016) while receiving a delegation of the National Executive Committee of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association, led by the National Vice-President, Mr. Wale Fasakin. The delegation had on behalf of the National body paid a courtesy visit on the Chancellor to congratulate him on his appointment as Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and conferment with a honorary doctorate of the University during the last convocation ceremonies.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chancellor, who is also a First Class traditional ruler, noted that the University of Ilorin is a dynamic, beautiful and world class Centre of Excellence that he is proud to be associated with. He added that though he had been Chancellor of some other Nigerian universities before now, he considered his appointment at the University of Ilorin as a special privilege and honour to him and the entire Katsina Emirate.

While pledging his support to the management and stakeholders of the University of Ilorin to sustain the University as a better by far institution than others, the Emir accepted the proposal of his investiture as an alumnus of the University and member of the Association.

The Emir submitted that he would communicate a suitable date to the national leadership of the body for the formal investiture in Katsina. He then extended his blessings to the alumni association worldwide and promised to make his mark as a member of the Association.

The high points of the occasion included the formal presentation of a congratulatory letter of the Association, jointly signed by the National President, Dr (Mrs) Rhoda Oduwaiye and the National General Secretary, Dr Mahfouz Adedimeji, to the Chancellor as well as a royal photo session with the delegation.

With Mr. Fasakin on the delegation were the National Social Secretary, Dr Lateef Oladimeji; the National Treasurer, Comrade Nesta Oluwatoba and the 1st National Auditor, Mr. Abraham T. Adavi.
