Share/Tsaragi: Commission of enquiry inspects disputed areas
The commission of enquiry set up by Kwara State governor, Dr. Abdulfattah Ahmed, on Wednesday visited Share and Tsaragi, to inspect the areas causing rift between them. The commission headed by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari and other traditional rulers in state inspected the disputed areas to ascertain facts and suggest solution to the state government.
While leading members of the commission to all the areas, Mr Gabriel Jimoh, a former perm secretary, who is also from Share, showed them the demarcation between the two communities. He said the demarcation was established by a surveyor general of the state sometime in the past, but that it was removed by the people of Tsaragi during the crisis. Three primary schools namely; Community School, (former Native Authority school), Muslim Community School Share, UMCA primary school and many other buildings in Share were burnt down during the crisis, it was gathered. Efforts by our correspondent to speak with the Etsu of Tsaragi, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu, proved abortive as he directed her to the Government House in Ilorin for information. His counterpart in Share, the Olufako of Share, Alhaji Abubakar Garba, who was represented by one of the chiefs in the palace welcomed the commission of enquiry and appealed to the state government to find a lasting solution to the problem. The report of the commission is expected to be ready in a few weeks, after which a panel of reconciliation would be constituted, Daily Trust learnt.
