We Lost To Referee, Kwara United Coach Cries Out
After seeing his side reduced to nine men in their game against Kwara United in a NPFL week 26 clash at the Lafia Township Stadium, Nasarawa State yesterday, Coach Tunde Abdulrahaman of Kwara United, blamed the referee for the loss.
"You saw it; my boys played so well. They did not lose this game, the referee made us lose. Did you see how she dished out those two cards? I mean, she lost control of the game in the second half. I can't believe she is FIFA-badged. I don't blame officials, but today's was too much for me to take.
"I have my mind already on the next game, but, as for this game, it was down to the referee and she made all the wrong calls, my brother. Let's forget about this; we want the LMC to not of this," he told npfl.ng in Lafia.
The spokesperson of the Afonja Warriors, Yinka Owolewa, was bitter about the evening's result.
"The red card for Mohammed Abdullahi, I understand, but how can she interprete the red for Esobe Chukwudi? That is what we want to know. The young man was protesting that he dod nothing and she gave him the card. He did nothing; yes, she may have been looking for another player involved in an infringement, but Esobe did no wrong. It was a case of mistaken identity. We cannot continue like this; all decisions must be right, if our league must grow," he lamented.
