Justice Fati Abubakar to Address Governors' Wives' Awards
Justice Fati Abubakar, former First Lady of Nigeria and Chief Justice of Niger State will deliver the keynote address at the 2015 edition of the Most Valuable Governors' Wives Awards [MVGWA] ceremony scheduled to take place 19th May, 2015 at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Abuja.
The team leader MVGWA Tom Obulu stated this in a statement made available to Daily Trust correspondent yesterday in Abuja.
The MVGWA, according to him was designed to lead a new phenomenon in the assessment and recognition of the governors' wives who are providing complementary role to the governors' achievements.
He said that the governors' wives have become part of the democratic team that has been providing grassroots development, hence, the institution of the award.
"The 36 governors' wives and the FCT minister's wife were assessed based on their NGO projects available in the public domain and their impacts on the people were considered. The MVGWA Team shortlisted eight for emerging recipients for the year 2015. The criteria adopted were sustainability, empowerment, impact, change agent and corporate branding [SEICC]," he said.
The awardees are in alphabetical order of states: Hajiya Hauwa Abiodun Yuguda, wife of the Governor of Bauchi State, Deaconess Mrs. Roli Uduaghan, wife of the Governor of Delta State, Hajiya [Dr.] Aisha Bala Mohammed, wife of the FCT Minister and Mrs. Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, wife of the Governor of Imo State.
The others are: Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed, wife of the Governor of Kwara State, Hajiya Jummai Babangida Aliyu, wife of the Governor of Niger State, Mrs. Olukemi Mimiko, wife of the Governor of Ondo State and Hajiya Asma'u Abdulazeez Yari, wife of the Governor of Zamfara State.
