I'll give financial autonomy to Kwara councils - Ajibola, PDP guber candidate

Date: 2014-12-28

The Kwara State governorship standard-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Simeon Ajibola, has promised to put an end to the joint account system forced on local governments in the state by the incumbent government.

Ajibola who arrived to a tumultuous welcome in Ilorin yesterday said this while fielding questions at a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ secretariat.

According to him, local governments in the state were coerced into operating joint accounts supervised by the state, thereby preventing the councils from shanelling their monthly allocations to projects of their choice which would be to the benefit of the people.

The party's standard-bearer who at event presented his running mate, Alhaji Yinka Aluko, an ex Security Adviser to the Government on Security for eight years, said he would also ensure more than 35 percent women participation in government if elected next February.
