Emulate Ahmadu Bello, Gamji urges Jonathan

Date: 2012-01-30

The President General, Gamji Members Association of Nigeria (GAMA), Kwara State branch, Dr Abubakar Ibrahim yesterday called on President Goodluck Jonathan, and all Nigeria leaders to emulate the exemplary leadership qualities of the late Premier of the Northern region, Sir Ahmadu Bello in order to move the country forward.

Ibrahim, who made the call while fielding questions from journalists on the state of the nation, shortly after a prayer session organised in honour of Sir Ahmadu Bello, noted that the late Sardauna stood for fairness and justice .

He said that during the time of the Sardauna, Christians and Muslims lived together without any problem as against what is happening today, adding that the late premier was a detribalized leader who always put the interest of the nation first.

Ibrahim lamented that corruption has eaten deep into the fabrics of governance, and that the love for worldly things has also destroyed morality among people.

"I want to believe that the present leaders are doing their best to put things right, but their best is not enough", he said.

He called for prayers which should be followed with actions to put things right for the good of the country .

In his remarks, the Deputy President General of GAMA Nigeria, Alhaji Murtala Orire said the late Sardauna stood for the unity of Nigeria.
