Kwara Government Promises Stable Power Supply

The Kwara State government says it is working to ease the problem of epileptic power supply in the state. The honorable commissioner for information, Prince Tunji Morounfoye stated this today while participating on a breakfast show on UNILORIN 89.3fm, Morning Cruise.

Prince Moronfoye said he was part of the government delegation that went to the Netherlands where the state government team went to see how they can enter into partnerships to better the life of the people of the state.

The commissioner said the Kwara State government has met with the big banking sector in Belgium where they promised to assist electricity generation adding that transformers  have been provided to various communities and areas  to help connect them to the national grid

He said before the end of the year, there will be a blueprint for power generation in Kwara state. Prince Morounfoye stated further energy is important and it drives both the public and private sector and the government is trying its best to ensure the people have easy access to it.

He said it is a situation which must be dealt with to ensure low costs/prices of raw materials and finished goods in the state, and Nigeria as a whole adding that power supply should be the main priority for the government.

While answering questions on the government's plans for the late Rasheedi Yekini, prince Morounfoye said governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has sent a proposal to the State House of Assembly and is hoping that soon the bill will be passed to name the Kwara State stadium after Rasheedi Yekini..

He said the current administration of the state under Governr Abdulfatahi Ahmed believes that the youths should be encouraged to follow good pursuits for a productive live and as such is providing more jobs for them under its programme known as the Kwara state bridge empowerment scheme KWABES

He said the governor is also working on improving water supply in Kwara state and that by the end of the year, development will be obvious.

He stated further that the government is providing for the unemployed youths in Kwara state between 17-35 years old 10,000 naira per month so as to support them while stating that but it requires registration with the state government under Kwara state bridge empowerment scheme (KWABES).
