First Lady inaugurates Women for Change Initiative in Kwara
The First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan, on Thursday reaffirmed her determination to uplift the standards of Women in the country.
She stated this at the Palace of the Emir of llorin, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari, during a courtesy call.The first lady, who was at the palace on arrival in llorin, expressed dissatisfaction with the standards of Nigerian Women, especially those at the grassroots.
Mrs Jonathan said she would bring together women for the empowerment programme, irrespective of their backgrounds or religious inclinations.
She said the motive was to improve their well-being and give them a sense of belonging.
The First lady expressed her resolve for full actualisation of their 35 per cent representation in government.
Mrs Jonathan said she was at the Palace for royal blessings for the success of her agenda.
The first lady solicited the continued prayers and support of the monarch for the success of her programme.
The Emir, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari, while responding, prayed for the success of the First Lady in her bid to improve the lot of Women in the country.
