Date: 2014-10-19

The new Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Salihu Garba, has said that belief in the use of protective charms by criminals will in no way, make them escape arrest by his men.

Speaking when he paraded three suspected members of secret cult groups, among other suspected criminals, who were nabbed with criminal charms in the state, the police boss said the charms had always failed them when least expected.

Other items found on the suspected cult members include one cut to size single barrel gun, one double barrel gun, eight live cartridges, four cutlasses, one dagger, one knife and criminal charms.

Also paraded were eight persons alleged to have gang-raped a 15-year-old girl in Ilorin, the state capital.

The Police Commissioner gave the names of the paraded suspects as Kadir Rafiu, Sikiru Jimoh and Mustapha Nasiru.

Mr. Garba also paraded a teenage girl who he said was a "habitual criminal" specializing in breaking into residences in the state capital.
