Four arrested in Kwara over possession of illegal arms.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Police Command, Zanna Ibrahim, on Tuesday said the command had arrested four suspects, alleged to be members of the Peoples Democratic Party, for allegedly possession of illegal firearms.
He said the suspects were arrested in the residence of the Kwara State PDP Caretaker Chairman, Solomon Edoja. Ibrahim in a interview with journalists said investigation had
commenced into the matter.
He said, “Four suspects were arrested in Oyun area of the metropolis, in the house of the PDP chairman on Tuesday morning. One of the suspects, Olorunfemi Sola, was caught with a locally made gun and one
live cartridge”, he said.
Our correspondent also learnt that the police had invited a state lawmaker for interrogation.
Edojah said the suspects were arrested outside his premises. He stated that 90 per cent of the suspects were not PDP members.
He confirmed that one of the suspects was arrested with fire arms. He denied involved in the action of the suspect, adding that the suspects could drop names of prominent persons as a way of seeking to
freed; or implicate innocent people.
He also confirmed that the lawmaker was invited by the police for interrogation.
Edojah said, “Some hoodlums were sited outside the premises of my lodge this morning and we discovered that about 90 percent of them were people masquerading like PDP members who whose mission was to foment trouble.
“When police arrested one of them and searched him thoroughly, he was caught with life ammunition and you will agree with me that it is typical of hoodlums to mention names of prominent person when
arrested.”
