Kwara targets 10,000 jobs
The Kwara State Government plans to provide 10,000 job opportunities for residents Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, has said.
He spoke to journalists in Ilorin during an inspection of the International Vocational Centre at Ajase-Ipo in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state on Monday.
The governor said he had set up a seven-man committee to see how to employ or the modalities of engaging about 10,000 youths.
He added that 5,000 youths will go into full employment, 4,000 are targeted for entrepreneurship development.
He said, "After the entrepreneurship, we will empower them. It will require a lot of money.
"Kwara Bridge Employment Scheme and Kwara State Road and Transport Management Agency and other organisations are also there to provide job opportunities for the remaining 1,000 youths."
He expressed delight at the pace of work at the centre.
He said the centre was a laudable initiative of the state government to respond to the paucity of skilled and semi-skilled manpower needs of the country.
