Groups Give Abdulfatah Thumbs Up For Education Development

Despite being conferred with the award of the governor of the year by the Nigerian Union of Teachers, teachers in Kwara state believe there is still room for improvement on the welfare of their members.

In Kwara state, an estimated 22,000 teachers in the employment of the state government,with primary schools boasting of the highest with 14,000 while secondary schools account for the remaining 8,000.

On the assessment of the present administration especially on the welfare of teachers in the past two and half years, the State Chairman of  All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools [ANCOPPS], Idowu Omomeji, gave kudos to Governor Abdulfattah for implementing policies that has been bringing smiles to the faces of the teachers in the state.

The national body of teachers, National Union of Teachers (NUT), also honoured the state governor with the award of the governor of the year in an elaborate event attended by the Vice President Namadi Sambo and the coordinating Minister of Education.

Governor Abdulfattah, who held the crowd spellbound with his eloquent speech, explained the reasons why teachers should be taken care of, having produced all the professionals including the politicians.

While the State Commissioner For Education, Saka Onimago justified the award given to the governor by listing other achievements in the sector, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Musa Abubakar, could not agree less but called for more improvements in certain areas of the education sector.

Indeed, the implementation of new demands by the teachers will further endear the governor to the hearts of the teachers and enhance development in the state.
