An Ilorin Chief Magistrate's Court Tuesday remanded members of a five-man armed robbery gang arrested in connection with the murder of an Ilorin-based medical doctor, Adewumi Ariyo.

The accused;Adewumi Kayode, Abiodun Ojulari, Akeem Afolabi, Omoloye Seun and Olatide Oladapo were alleged to have shot dead Adewumi who was a dentist at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).

Late Ariyo, 44, was gunned down at his Basin residence on Thursday April 18, 2013.

The suspects were arraigned on a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, culpable homicide and belonging to gang of brigands contrary to Sections 6 (B) and 1, 2 of Armed Robbery and Firearms (special provision) Act Cap RII, Law of Federation of Nigeria and section 221 and 205 of Penal Code.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges against them.

Police prosecutor, Insp. Karimu Jimoh said investigation revealed that the suspects carted away a Honda Accord car valued at N1.8 million belonging to the deceased's wife.

He added that the armed gang also stole two blackberry phones worth N95, 000, six mobile phones valued at N80, 000, Samsung galaxy phone worth N80,000 and a plasma TV valued at N130, 000.

According to him, the suspects also stole women jewellery worth N300, 000 and a complete sonny sound system valued at N85, 000.
