Offa Legislature elects Principal Officers

The Legislature in Offa Local Government Council has elected  principal officers and also held its Inaugural sitting  with Hon. Wasiu Olaniyi Lawal from Shawo South East ward, emerging as Speaker.

Hon. Olaniyi in his address after administering the oath of office and allegiance on other principal officers, urged the legislature to see the success of the Chairman, Prince Waheed Segun Olanipekun as their success.

He was also humble in victory as he stated that he is only first among equals, adding that all Councilors are equally qualified to be Speaker, soliciting for their support in moving the council forward.

His words: " We are all qualified for this position, it is only with regards to your collective support and understanding that I stand before you today. I equally wish to seek for your solidarity in moving Offa forward by seeing the success of the Chairman, Prince Segun Olanipekun, as your success.

" We must shun sentiments and distraction in the collective resolve to build a prosperous community. Election is gone, we shall encourage an all inclusive, open government of Prince Olanipekun. Other principal officers elected are Hon. Maroof Tiamiyu, from Balogun ward, as the Deputy Speaker; Hon.(Alhaji) Tajudeen Ilufoye, from Ojomu South East, as Leader of the house, while Hon. Gbenga Adeniran Olawuyi, from Essa 'C' was elected as Chief Whip.

The Chairman of the Party in Offa, Alhaji(Engr) Goke Rabiu, in his message urged the legislature to sustain the confidence reposed in them as distinguished legislators by being development driven in their legislative process.

Goke, stated that a synergized relationship between the Executive council and the legislature in Offa local government area that would accelerate the development of the area is expected from the system.
