'Boko Haram Insurgency Dreadful Than Civil War' - Emir of Ilorin
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, yesterday observed that the present state of insecurity in the country was dreadful than the civil war.
Sulu-Gambari who described the security challenges facing the country as unparalleled in the annals of the nation's history noted that the enemy camps were known during the civil war unlike the present situation where the enemies were faceless.
The monarch made this observation when members of 'Study Group 1' of the Executive Course 34, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, paid him a courtesy visit in his palace in Ilorin, Kwara State.
While lamenting that the situation had dented the image of the country and that of Nigerians, he stressed the need for all to join hands and save the nation from disintegration.
Sulu-Gambari, who described the course participants as people of proven integrity and knowledge, urged them to use their findings at the end of their course to salvage the security problem.
He stressed the need for the country to shift focus from oil and diversify the economy to pave the way for sustainable development.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Professor Thomos Imobighe, had explained that the group was in the state on a study-tour and would be visiting five other states of the federation, especially following a presidential mandate to carry out a study on resource diversification for sustainable development.
He was however optimistic that their report and recommendations would be able to address the current dependence on oil as the country's major source of revenue generation.
