An Ilorin Area Court on Thursday dissolved a five-year-old marriage between one Zainab Malik and Malik Ibrahim over childlessness.

Zainab, 30, a resident of Alore Area, Ilorin, had prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to Ibrahim for lack of issue in their marriage.

She told the court that she had no more passion to continue with the marriage since it was unproductive.

"Although my husband is not complaining, I’m tired of enduring the marriage and I want to try other places," the plaintiff said.

She told the court that the marriage was contracted in 2008 and was yet to produce a child.

"My lord, I want an end to this marriage because I see no reason wasting my time in an unproductive marriage," she said.

The defendant, Ibrahim, did not object to the prayer of his wife, saying she was free to go and try another man.

"I know my wife will never listen to my pleas and advice because of her impatience," he said.

Ibrahim prayed the court to grant the prayer without any claim.

The presiding judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to the plaintiff.
