Opinion:ASUU and FG's expenditure by Adisa Adebayo
The Federal Government has declared its inability to pay the N92billion additional wage said to have been demanded by ASUU.
In a statement made by the Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, the recurrent expenditure of the government is over 77 per cent of the nation's budget!
There is little left for infrastructural development.
This has brought to the fore the need to review the salaries of public officers to allow for equitable pay for work done.
That is why we will have to start with the jumbo pay for members of the National Assembly and the federal executive!
The work of the lawmakers ought to be on part-time basis since already they go on recess three to four times a year.
They should only receive sitting allowances.
