Patigi LG distributes N20m empowerment materials
Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State has distributed empowerment materials worth N20 million to 185 people aimed at uplifting their economic potentials.
Among the beneficiaries were two royal fathers and Chief Imam of Patigi who received a new car each.
It was gathered that the 185 beneficiaries were selected across the 10 wards of the council area.
Other empowerment items apart from the three cars were 30 griding machines, 30 sewing machines and 30 spraying cans.
The rest were 35 motorcycles, bundles of print wax, clippers and other assorted materials.
The items were presented to the beneficiaries by the Director Inspectorate in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Alhaji AbdulRasaq Olounmako on behalf of Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed.
In their remarks the deputy speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Prof. Gana Yissa and Kwara Head of service, Alhaji Mohammed Dabarako praised the local government for embarking on the programme they noted that the materials would no doubt boost the economic activities of the beneficiaries and minimise poverty among them.
The Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta-Umar praised the foresight of the council for uplifting the standard of living of the people at the grassroots.
The chairman of the local government, Alhaji Mohammed Dauda-Lata said the council embarked on the programme to complement the effort of Governor Ahmed at eradicating poverty among the people of the state.
The chairman reaffirmed the determination of the council to further transform the area with zero tolerance to poverty for rapid socio-economic growth.
He advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items to improve their economic fortunes.
Some of the beneficiaries including the Chief Imam of Patigi, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi expressed their gratitude to the local government for the kind gesture.
