Lafiagi, Shonga and Tsiragi communities charged to embrace health insurance scheme
Speaking when he led the state Committee on Community Health Insurance Scheme on a tour of some hospitals under the scheme, the governor's aide on community health, Oba Abdulraheem, said that the beneficiaries under the health insurance scheme would enjoy free medical services, including drugs and access to quality health care.
The tour also took the committee members to Afon, Otte-Oja and Alapa hospitals as well as basic health centres. In all the hospitals visited, the governor's aide implored the people of the various communities to enjoy the benefits of the community health insurance scheme.
Most of the communities visited expressed gratitude to the state government for the health scheme. The visit of the health insurance committee was in preparation for the forthcoming monitoring and evaluation visit by the pharmacy team from Nigeria and the Netherlands between March 26 and April 5, this year. It is a routine monitoring and evaluation visit to assess level of quality care for patients under the insurance scheme.
It will be recalled that the committee on community health insurance scheme was inaugurated by the state deputy governor, Elder Peter Kishira, on December 1, 2011.
