KWSG to establish world class soil and agricultural laboratory.

The Kwara State Government is to spend about three hundred million naira on the establishment of a World class soil and water Agricultural laboratory to serve as a roadmap for Agricultural development in the State.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Prince Tunji Morounfoye stated this while featuring on a Radio Kwara interactive programme, ‘’The Platform’’.

He noted, that the laboratory, which would be the first of its kind in West Africa, is an integral part of the Kwara Agriculture Mechanization Master Plan (KAMP) aimed at boosting the productivity of farmers across the State.

Prince Morounfoye while commending the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Bode Olayemi, for the giant stride, added that it was a welcome idea, and that the State of the art laboratory would be sited at the campus of Kwara State University (KWASU) Molete, for the benefit of the faculty of Agriculture and farming communities at large.

He explained that twenty million naira had also been earmarked for the renovation of the General Hospital in Baruba, while the on-going community Health Insurance Scheme is also to commence in Kwara North.

Commenting on the laudable effort of the Wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed, on the adoption and provision of educational materials to pupils across the State, he commended LEAH Foundation for the programme, noting that there was no budgetary allocation to execute the programme.

The Commissioner then charged other well meaning Kwarans and political office holders to take a queue from the commendable effort of Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed, by giving the under priviledged children the chance to get quality education.

He also congratulated the former Governor of Kwara State and Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Bukola Saraki on his turbaning as the Turakin Raya Kasor Nupe, stating that it was an indication of the fact that his exemplary contributions to the development of Kwara and the political realm of the country is being recognized and rewarded.

A caller on the programme commended the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin for the payment of two point five million naira for the treatment of one of its students with a hole in the heart, adding that the effort of Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed through the LEAH Foundation was also exceptional.

He encouraged other States to emulate the feat so as to reduce the population of our of school pupils.

Another caller also charged the government to expedite action on the payment of Pensions to Local Government Retires.
