Spineless bureaucracy fuels official corruption - Ogunlowo
A retired permanent secretary and one-time Secretary to the Government of Kwara State, Chief John Ogunlowo, has said that contemporary civil servants lack the audacity to confront their political bosses when they misappropriate public funds. He said the trend which he called "spineless bureaucracy" has diminished the power of civil servants and made mockery of their crucial roles of driving government transformative programmes. Speaking with newsmen in Ilorin, Ogunlowo, called for the re-invigoration of the civil service to restore the confidence and bravery of civil servants as they were in the past.
