Federal Government Urged to Secure Porous Borders
The Managing Director of CRC credit Bureau Limited, Mr Tunde Popoola has urged Federal Government has to step up security at the country porous borders in a bid to secure the country.
Popoola who was the guest lecturer at the 2013 Annual Management Day Celebration organised by Kwara state branch of the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) held at the University of Ilorin made the call while delivering his paper titled "Good governance: Enforcement of Law and Order"
According to him, majority Of Nigeria’s land border are largely unprotected and this gives room for all kinds of dangerous activities like guns and ammunitions smuggling, bomb materials importation, easy access for foreigners on criminal activity mission among others.
The Director advised government at all level to ensure good governance, stressing that its remains one of the crucial factors in eradicating poverty, promoting economic development, national security, and enhancing human development.
The guest speaker who however advocated for promotion of culture of accountability and transparency among government officials explained that lack of transparency around policy and decision making by government officials and institutions would encourage mis-allocation of resources.
