The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara State has raised the alarm that the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has set up a committee charged to take over Congress for Progressive Change(CPC), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

The parties state Chairmen, Alhaji Suleiman Buhari, Alhaji Taiwo Eleja and Kayode Olawepo in a jointly signed statement yesterday said they have alerted State Security Service(SSS) and other security agencies on the matter.

"Already, a committee headed by a former national officer of the PDP and a perennial gubernatorial contestant in the state, has been set up to fine-tune the modalities for the takeover bid. And true to instructions, the committee has devised a multi-prong approach to destabilise the fledging APC’s structure.

"These methods include, but are by no means limited to, flying the dangerous kite of dissolution of the democratically elected State Executive Councils of the three major opposition parties in the state."

The parties Chairmen further alleged that the PDP committee in the state was mandated to flag off an NGO, political fora to serve as counterforce and public messiah. APC chairmen maintained that the parties were not against politicians joining the mega party but stressed that such person must be ready to abide by the rules of the party.

"Any attempt to resurrect an idea that is dead and effectively buried in the brain of its progenitor will be tantamount to a declaration of war against democracy and the rule of law. They have to bear it in their minds that the APC is a party of rules and due process".
