Kwara CP Warns Officers Against Indiscriminate Phone Searches of Corps Members
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, has told corps members that no police officer is permitted to indiscriminately search their mobile phones under the guise of checking for internet fraud.
Adekimi gave the assurance on Wednesday, during a working visit to corps members undergoing the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course at the NYSC Orientation Camp.
While addressing the corps members, the CP reaffirmed the command's commitment to their safety throughout their service year in the state.
He said corps members deserve to be treated with dignity in their interactions with police personnel.
"No police officer should indiscriminately search through their mobile phones on the road under the guise of checking for involvement in internet fraud," he stated.
Adekimi also provided dedicated channels for reporting security concerns or misconduct: 08075249021 (WhatsApp) and 07032069501 (Calls), or by approaching the nearest police formation for prompt assistance.
The CP described corps members as "leaders of today and important agents of positive change."
He urged them to embrace their host communities with confidence and contribute meaningfully to development.
He further advised them to use social media responsibly and stay away from "digital thuggery and other activities capable of undermining peace."
Adekimi commended the Camp Commandant and security personnel for maintaining a safe environment at the camp, and called on corps members to see the police as partners.
"Freely share credible information that could help protect yourselves and your host communities," he added.
The NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Alhaji Musa Tukur Kafarda, received the CP and his entourage on arrival.
He expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the CP for his continued commitment to the security and welfare of corps members deployed to the state.
