Kwara Procurement Agency Wins Two Honours at Africa Supply Chain Summit
The Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KWPPA) has received two major awards at the 8th Africa Supply Chain Summit held in Lagos, in recognition of its commitment to transparency, accountability and excellence in public procurement.
KWPPA, the agency responsible for regulating the procurement of goods, works and services by the Kwara State Government, was honoured with the Award of Excellence in Public Procurement Compliance 2026.
The agency's General Manager, Alhaji Raheem AbdulBaki, also received the Africa Top 50 Procurement and Supply Chain Leaders Award for his outstanding leadership and contributions to advancing public procurement practice on the continent.
Reacting to the honours on Wednesday in Ilorin, AbdulBaki dedicated the awards to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, attributing the recognition to the governor's commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance.
He also commended the staff of the agency for their dedication, professionalism and teamwork, describing the awards as a collective achievement.
"These awards belong to every member of staff whose dedication, discipline, teamwork and professionalism have continued to strengthen the agency. Let this recognition inspire us to raise the bar even higher as we continue to make the agency and Kwara State proud," he said.
AbdulBaki noted that the agency has continued to earn recognition both within and outside Nigeria for promoting global best practices in public procurement.
According to him, the latest honours reflect the success of the procurement reforms introduced by the AbdulRazaq administration and further strengthen KWPPA's growing reputation as one of Africa's emerging public procurement institutions.
He added that the awards underscore the impact of the state's commitment to due process, transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
