The Kwara State House of Assembly has urged the state Ministry of Water Resources to speedily complete the repair and replacement of pipes in Osi waterworks in Osi town, Ekiti Local Government by end of this month.

The House made the plea in its recommendations on the report of its committee on Agriculture and Water Resources read by its chairman, Dr. Abraham Ashaolu on a petition titled “Letter of appeal on Osi Water treatment plant and reticulation works” written by Osi Welfare Association.

The petitioner had in its petition alleged that Osi waterworks had been constructed by the community about 40 years ago and that virtually all the pipes along the reticulation network have broken and not serviceable thereby resulting in acute water shortage in the town.

It prayed the House to call on the appropriate government agency to make the waterworks functioning through comprehensive repair of water pipes.

The parliament therefore asked Ministry of Water Resources to make strong efforts to extend the reticulation as soon as practicable.
