Kwarapoly Launches Sachet Water Amidst Mixed Feelings
In its bid to increase its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base, Kwara State Polytechnic this semester launched its sachet water product named 'Kwarapoly Water' into the market, even the school management has barred other sachet water products from selling within the school community.
The Kwarapoly pure water industry was built inside the campus beside the Department of Hospitality Management. Recall, the management sometime ago, revealed to the school's campus magazine, The Campus Echoes,of this dream, which came to pass recently. In the same vein, the school management has stated that Kwarapoly Bread will soon hit the market.
However, as it was reportedly alleged that the first batch of product of the water was bad, Ahlaja Rukayat Jimoh, a campus trader who spoke with Quadlife allayed students' fears saying; "The school management really tried by producing Kwarapoly Water, but the most painful thing was that we made some losses in sales due to the first batch that was bad. Since then, students have refused to buy the product from us. But I can assure you that the product has been improved now. So, I urge students to please start buying."
Also speaking, an Office Technology student, Oyetunde Ifeoluwake commended the efforts of the school management in establishing the sachet water industry, but advised that the business should not be monopolized, to allow students have options.
Her words; "It's a good idea that the school management is producing sachet water, but it will be more wonderful if the management can make it up to high standards, because the first batch of product was too bad. A lot of students complained after drinking it, including myself. I observed that there was too much preservative in it, even as some students complained of having stomach ache after taking it. I will be glad if the school can allow other sachet water marketers to keep on marketing their products on campus, so that students can make their choices."
However, the Students Union President, Sen. Faital Kabiru Busayo explained that the first batch was bad due to hard water encountered where the factory is sited. He said; "I can assure you that the subsequent batches are 100% okay. Treatment has been done to make it soft. We thank God now that the water is perfectly okay."
