CMA Youth Group Endorses Murtala Awolola for Kwara South Senatorial Seat
A youth organisation operating under the banner of the CMA Youth Group has declared its support for Chief Murtala Awolola's bid for the Kwara South Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced on Thursday at the Cooperative Society Hall in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. Supporters at the event came from the seven local government areas within the senatorial district Isin, Ekiti, Offa, Irepodun, Ifelodun, Oke-Ero and Oyun.
In an interview with Arewa PUNCH, the State Coordinator of CMA, Mr Ganiyu Bayo Sonibare, stated that the group's decision was informed by Awolola's philanthropic activities and his involvement in the All Progressives Congress.
He noted that Awolola, an APC stalwart based in Germany, has continued to participate actively in party matters both locally and internationally.
"Chief Awolola has consistently demonstrated commitment to the growth of our party and the development of Kwara South. During the 2023 general elections, he established two political support groups to mobilise votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu," Sonibare said.
He further explained that the group conducted visits to all seven local government areas in the district to engage stakeholders regarding Awolola's ambition, adding that the consultations yielded favourable responses, leading to the endorsement.
"We are doing this because we believe Kwara South deserves quality representation," he said.
The Women Leader of the group, Hajia Nimatallahi Mustapha, also commended Awolola's empowerment efforts, particularly his support for women and young people.
She referenced his sponsorship of three female footballers to the Turkish Women's League, describing it as evidence of his dedication to youth advancement.
"He has executed several programmes supporting vulnerable groups in Kwara South. That is why we, as women, are rallying behind his senatorial ambition," she said.
Mustapha called on residents of the district to support what she described as a credible and compassionate aspirant who has deployed personal resources to assist disadvantaged individuals.
Political observers note that early endorsements of this nature indicate the gradual momentum building towards the 2027 elections, as aspirants and support groups intensify grassroots consultations and mobilisation across Kwara State's senatorial districts.
