Date: 2026-02-03

The apex socio-cultural organisation of Igbomina people in Kwara State, Omo Ibile Igbomina, has commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for directing the reopening of primary and post-primary schools in Kwara South Senatorial District.

In a statement jointly signed by the President, Sir Bisi Fakayode, and the National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Bisi Adedayo, and issued in Ilorin, the group expressed delight at the resumption of academic activities after nine weeks of closure since 19 November 2025.

"We received with elation, the state government's directive to reopen schools after nine weeks of closure, since 19th November, 2025 due to the unfavorable security situation and criminal infiltrations of a section of the State.

"The decision was taken in good faith by the government to protect the lives of the pupils, students and the teachers in the area against the illicit act of banditry," the statement read.
