Twenty-five years after their graduation, the "Millennium Set" of old students from Ilorin Grammar School (IGS) reconvened in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, to celebrate their silver jubilee.
The reunion of the Class of 2000 was designed to strengthen existing bonds and launch new initiatives aimed at supporting both their members and their alma mater. During the event, the President of the set, AbdulRasheed Biola Abdulkareem, chronicled the group's journey over the past two and a half decades, expressing gratitude for the achievements recorded by his colleagues.
Abdulkareem specifically appreciated the members for their consistent donations and gestures, which he noted are geared towards making a tangible impact on the lives of former classmates and the school that nurtured them.
The National President of the IGS Old Students Association, Alabi Folohunsho Owolabi, attended the gathering and applauded the Millennium Set for their organization. He urged them to sustain the unity that has kept them together since their departure from the school in 2000.
Sharing similar sentiments, the Chairman of the occasion, Abdulrasaq Jimoh, commended the initiative, highlighting the importance of such reunions in fostering community development and ensuring the continued growth of the historic institution.
He advised the group to always be ready to assist each other when services are needed.
The principal of IGS senior section, Alhaji Apalando, who is an old student of the school, called on the set to leverage their goodwill to attract assistance for the upgrade of infrastructure in the school.
In their separate comments, some members of the set were elated for coming together after a two-and-half decade of departure from school.
