Kwara Horse Show Set for November: Participation is Free and Open to All
Preparations are in full swing for the Kwara Horse Show, which is scheduled to take place in November. Organizers have announced that participation in the event is open and free to everyone, regardless of age or gender.
Speaking during the Yoruba sports program Papa Isere on Emirate FM on Monday, October 13, 2025, the Convener of the event, Ambassador Bolaji Mogaji Nda, highlighted the horse show's significance in promoting culture, unity, and community development across Kwara State.
"This program is for all Kwarans. There is no age limit, everyone is welcome to participate. Just come with your horse and register. Registration is completely free," Ambassador Mogaji Nda stated.
He further appealed to business owners, corporate organizations, and sponsors to partner with the organizing committee in supporting the initiative, noting that such collaboration would contribute greatly to the growth of equestrian sport and tourism in the state.
"We are calling on individuals, companies, and brands to join us as partners or sponsors. This event will not only promote our cultural heritage but also provide great visibility for supporting organizations," he added.
Also speaking on the program, Dr. Jamila Abdulhamid Atata, Secretary of the proposed Harmony Polo Club, Ilorin, emphasized that the event is open to all genders and that comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure a successful tournament.
"We encourage both men and women, young and old, to take part. All necessary logistics and safety measures are in place," she stated.
Dr. Atata also revealed that free horse-riding training sessions are ongoing for interested individuals every Saturday and Sunday by 4 p.m. at Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin, aimed at helping newcomers learn the art of horse riding.
The Kwara Horse Show seeks to celebrate equestrian culture, foster unity, promote tourism, and position Kwara as a leading center for traditional and modern horse-riding sports in Nigeria.
