A 22-year-old student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Olotin Nifemi, was arrested on 19 June 2025 along Kwara Poly Road in Ilorin, Kwara State, in possession of 1kg of skunk cannabis , a potent strain of the drug. Identified as a notorious supplier to fellow students, she was apprehended during a targeted operation by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
In a separate case, a 43-year-old makeup artist, Adekoya Mary, was detained at Lagos' Murtala Muhammed International Airport on the same day for attempting to smuggle 2.20kg of cocaine concealed in her luggage. She claimed she was travelling to India for fibroid surgery but was intercepted while preparing to board a flight.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed both arrests in a statement on Sunday, noting that the operations were based on actionable intelligence. He stated: "These cases highlight our commitment to dismantling drug networks, whether targeting students or exploiting international travel routes."

The arrest, which occurred on Monday, June 16, 2025, followed credible intelligence.
Babafemi said Adekoya was placed under surveillance and allowed to check in her luggage before being apprehended at the boarding gate of her Qatar Airways flight to India via Doha.
