Kwara Urges Transport Operators to Prioritize Safety Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir
Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the Kwara State Government has urged transport operators to avoid reckless driving to ensure commuter safety.
The administration also cautioned transporters and residents against actions that could disrupt the festival's peaceful observance.
Hon. Lafia Korasabi, Commissioner for Transportation, advised operators to adopt responsible driving practices and reduce road accidents in a statement released yesterday.
He emphasized the state's commitment to public safety and called for compliance with traffic regulations, including prohibitions on overloading, speeding, and operating vehicles without proper roadworthiness certification.
He said the ministry's traffic management agents will be on guard at strategic points to ensure free vehicular movement during the celebration.
The commissioner advised commuters to avoid boarding vehicles at roadside parks, which he noted could be dangerous, and to patronise only duly registered motor parks.
