Date: 2025-02-06

The Kwara State Health Insurance Agency (KW-HIA) has called for increased awareness campaigns regarding the benefits of enrolling in the state health insurance scheme at the local government level.

Mrs Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter, Executive Secretary of KW-HIA, made this appeal on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu, in Omu-Aran. She highlighted the critical role that health insurance plays in ensuring access to quality healthcare services, particularly during periods of economic difficulty.

Mrs Jetawo-Winter urged for greater sensitisation efforts among residents of Irepodun, praising the chairman for his exceptional leadership and performance amidst the current economic challenges facing the country. She also commended his governance achievements and encouraged him to maintain his dedication to the development of the local government area.

Reaponding, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu appreciated Mrs. Jetawo-Winter for the visit and pledged the local government's cooperation in promoting the health insurance scheme.

Yakubu reaffirmed his administration's dedication to improving the welfare of the people, stating that health remained a top priority in his agenda.

He said the visit underscored the importance of synergy between local government authorities and health agencies in achieving universal health coverage for Kwara residents.
