Agbaji Quarters Hosts Remembrance Prayers for Late Senate Leader Olushola Saraki
Clerics from various quarters in Ilorin, Kwara State, gathered on Thursday at Agbaji Quarters, the ancestral home of the late Second Republic Senate Leader, Dr. Olushola Saraki, to observe the 12th remembrance prayers for the iconic Kwara political figure.
The solemn event, organised by the Agbaji Development Association (ADA) under the leadership of its National President, Alhaji Yunus Abdulkadir, brought together community leaders, religious figures, and family members in honour of the late political stalwart's legacy.
The late Dr. Olushola Saraki is remembered for his influential role in shaping Kwara politics and his unwavering commitment to the development of the state.
The late politician fondly called 'Oloye' was the Waziri of Ilorin Emirate. He died on November 14, 2012.
After serving as senator of the Nigerian Second Republic (1979-1983), Saraki for more than 4 decades, successfully built and controlled a political dynasty in Kwara that also produced many Nigerians.
His son, Dr Bukola Saraki was elected a two term governor of Kwara state and was president of the 8th Senate while his daughter, Senator Gbemisola Saraki also served as a member of both chambers of the National Assembly at different times.
Leading other clerics in the prayer session, the Imam of Agbaji, Alhaji Abubakar Hakeeb, said the late Saraki lived all his life uplifting the poor and masses not minding where such beneficiaries of his gestures hailed from.
He said the late Oloyee's generosity, cut across the length and breathe of the state for which he would always be remembered in prayers.
The imam expressed delight that the former president of the 8th senate had been a pride to the community praying Allah to uplift him more.
Also in his short lecture, chief missioner, ADA Mission Board, Alhaji Kamalden Ataragba corroborated the imam's submission.
During the event, the association also distributed raw food palliatives to members of the association.
